Container for No-Land's Soil
Container for No-Land's Soil is an ongoing project that delves into the themes of home, belonging, and the search for these concepts by those forced to leave their homelands. With the prevalence of human rights violations and immigration crises worldwide, this is a crucial yet under-discussed issue.
When I was struggling with visa issues and lacked access to an art studio, I began creating tiny clay balls, contemplating the idea of homeland. Feeling trapped between the UK, where I fought for a visa, and Iran, where I couldn't return safely, I envisioned a 'No-Land'—a place where I could simply exist in peace.
These clay balls represent the soil of this No-Land. I continue to create them and conduct workshops with others facing similar challenges. These workshops are a metaphor for building this land collectively, offering a space to discuss the vital issues of immigration and exile.
Through this ongoing project, I aim to fill the container I've crafted with this symbolic soil, representing our shared search for belonging and the time each of us spends grappling with these issues.
