A Heart in Exile
The Roman votives from the 2nd-3rd century BC were clay representations of body parts placed in shrines to ask gods for health and healing. As a person living in exile, I sometimes feel as helpless as those ancient individuals seeking solace for their pain. The experience of exile, and the longing to see my homeland, is a constant ache in my heart that I struggle to understand. In this piece, my heart rests in a temple I created, hoping for peace and healing.
